About me
Dr. Malaisamy Ramamoorthy has nearly 20 years of experience in research and laboratory management in chemistry, chemical and environmental engineering. He has authored and co-authored over 30 publications and made numerous technical presentations at national and international conferences. Currently, he supervises the under graduate lab course Unit Operations in Chemical Engineering, CHEG 413. He is responsible for the development, implementation and administration of programs and policies necessary to comply with federal, state and local regulations governing environmental, occupational health and safety (EOHS) for laboratories in the College of Engineering and Architecture. He also formally plans, directs and coordinates the work of laboratory technical staff and student functions. He ensures that chemical and environmental laboratories are compliant with federal OSHA policies. He is also the resource/liaison for the College of Engineering and Architecture Faculty Safety Committee in matters related to chemical and environmental safety. He is a member of several professional societies including AIChE and ACS.

The Heart of Tabitha Foundation partnered with Howard University Chemical Engineering Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies Preethi Chandran, Ph.D., and Catholic University Biomedical Engineering Associate Professor Otto Wilson, Ph.D., to continue offering its annual summer workshop for local high school students in a virtual setting.
